Artist Biography
“I am a Parsons New School of Design NYC graduate with a BFA in Illustration. An important part of my life goal and artistic aim is to carry forward my Native American heritage in my own way. As my grandfather Chief Dr. Joe Medicine Crow, Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient and lifelong educator, had done through his oral and published literature.
The artwork I have recently created has been predominantly inspired by my Apsaalooke horse culture as well as our annual Crow Fair powwow and rodeo. I use my own photography to paint my artwork. Going from creating portraits to painting on a variety of bags and backpacks to teepee doors with our traditional designs and colors and influenced by ledger style horses. I am a proud Apsaalooke and it gives me great pleasure to share our culture beyond our own homeland.” Mona Bear Medicine Crow
